During Mötley Crüe’s performance of Live Wire, Tommy stands up behind his drum kit mid-song and repeatedly shouts “P***o Dio” to the crowd. Translated from Italian, P***o Dio literally means pig God, conveying that God is a pig. The incident gains controversy as Italian press reports the blasphemies offended a large portion of the audience. Crüe dancer Jozie Di Maria introduces the band in her native Italian language before handing Vince his guitar before the band kicks into Don’t Go Away Mad.
